Our chartered surveyors and space planning consultants have for many years worked closely with industrial, commercial and public sector users of land and buildings to plan their real estate achieving big savings in overhead costs.
They bring to the task a deep understanding of the technology and economics of building environments and excellent spatial planning skills.
Estate review
An estate review seeks to answer questions about the performance of the real estate both in supporting the requirements of the business and against external benchmarks. These questions might include:
- How well utilised are the buildings?
- Could the business operate in less space?
- How suitable are the buildings and what is their cost-in-use?
- How do the future plans of the business affect its requirements for accommodation?
- Which buildings should be kept and which disposed of?
We then identify and evaluate alternative scenarios for change, looking at the costs and benefits of adapting the estate to the present and future needs of the business.
Strategic plans
In developing a strategic plan for an estate we set out to understand the opportunities and constraints presented by the business’s fixed assets and to create a framework plan to guide development in response to changing business needs.
Layout design
We design layouts for the internal spaces of business premises that are ergonomic, functionally efficient, visually satisfying and that utilize space effectively.
Managing physical change projects
The implementation of change requires skilled and sensitive project management to ensure that the intended benefits are not diluted in the process whilst costs are controlled, the interests of stake-holders are respected and business disruption is minimised.
